The soft tone from Nio’s voice was enough to put Azuma back to her sense and composure even. It was admirable for how soft the other could be despite her rough, playful nature. It was as if Nio was an entirely different person at this point. The deal had been done. What now? That was the question. The azure assassin couldn’t go on without having this burned into her mind. Let alone she would need to be a bit more calm as well.
The addressing of her first name usually made the azure girl frown and correct the other person, but she let it slide this time. No need to add poison to medicine. “What I need? I don’t have much need for anything, let alone you have answered all my questions that I have.”
A pause. Actually, there was one. “You answered my questions from fact, though, I want to know something. If you were able to capture the hearts of few of our classmates, what would you do? You do realize not all of them are polyamorous, no?”
Laying the real questions here Azuma. This one was definitely going to hit hard.
At Tokaku’s words, Nio’s breath hitches. Her eyes widen, as she realizes that the flaw in her plan was simply because she didn’t think about everyone else’s feelings. After all, isn’t a healthy polyamorous relationship completely consentual? The class arbitrator feels her insides knot as she starts to wonder what she could possibly do to make everything work. It has to go okay. According to Nio herself, the plans she has all have to line up and she has to make everything work. Clearly, she was so caught up in her feelings that she didn’t even stop to consider everyone elses.
Nio tries to calm herself, managing to slow her now slightly panicked breathing a little to reply to Tokaku, but the one thing to describe her current expression is fear. “I… I hadn’t thought about that.” The once soft tone, has now gone hoarse as Nio’s throat dries once she’s opened her mouth.
Behind her words, Nio is pleading for Tokaku’s help. Even as the hidden meaning is there, she is fully aware of such a pitiful and futile attempt at getting the azure-locked assassin to assist. But telling someone else seems too painful for her. It would make her feel guilty to talk to any of the assassins that trust her now - she’d feel she betrayed them. But she can’t help but wonder. What if some of them don’t want anything to do with some of the others? There’s no way for Nio to cancel out these feelings. She knows this much
Everything was far too much of a heavy weight at this moment. Words were cracking the azure haired girl’s composure to where she gently flinched at the statement. It was until when Nio forced herself upon her was when Azuma felt she was going to have a god damn heart attack. She wasn’t a romantic person, and this was enough to strike a vivid response and reaction.
Sky blue eyes widened for a brief moment before Azuma remained grounded in spot, staring at Nio as she lingered in spot during the kiss. Perhaps making the shorter girl wouldn’t be too bad of an idea. It was a only one time chance after all.
After that moment, Azuma gently pushed Nio away from her. “You got what you wanted. You got spoiled just a little bit, but I decided to be nice and give you that.”
It was obvious and she couldn’t help but look away, face flustered. Now Nio got what she wanted and as well as everyone else dragged into this. Otoya would have to keep her end of the deal if she wanted to be safe and sound.
In a way, Nio was glad she was pushed away. Especially as it was gentle. She knows Tokaku as verbally brutal, and, when she wants to be, physically brutal too. The arbitrator takes it as almost a good sign. After taking a few moments to compose herself, Nio lets through a genuine smile. Her cheeks have come up lightly flushed, and if anyone were to listen hard enough, she could swear they would hear her heartbeat.
Giving a gentle bob of her head in understanding, Nio straightens herself up, still smiling gently down at Tokaku. Even after all her nerves, there’s still a sense of accomplishment, and that was worth something, right?
"Thanks, Tokaku-san." The arbitrator’s voice is a little softer than it usually is. Perhaps from all her current emotions. "Is there anything you need, or anything further you want to ask? I want to give you as many answers as I can while I’m here."
It seems sensible that while in a situation where the two are quite thoroughly alone, that they could have a more ‘profesional’ chat. Something is saying to Nio that Tokaku still wants to know more, and it wouldn’t surprise her if she did. Besides, she’s done something for herself. It’s Tokaku’s turn now.
This is what they say when opposites attract. Azuma was the complete opposite of the others. Personality and even bloodline wise. They were to be mortal enemies from generation to generation, claws and fangs gnawing and clawing at the other with no remorse. No pity. No sympathy. Yet, here they are, one had fallen in love with the other.
"You did." Azuma answered back after a moment to herself with her thoughts. "You will only have this once Hashiri."
Romantic behavior was definitely not the girl’s forte. Let alone she didn’t have time to linger on such behavior. Observation was enough for her to see the pros and cons of the situation, let alone Nio was polyamorous in this situation. Azuma was most likely someone who would have feelings develop after a long period of time.
Something about the words the other assassin speaks takes Nio a step back from being so on-edge. It’s almost as if that reluctant expectance meant something to her. Perhaps it did. Even though, she’s fully aware that Tokaku most likely didn’t want to get on Otoya’s bad side, and probably accepting in case she was assaulted, it just seems right that Nio is sat there. For that split moment anyway.
In a second, Nio remembers that she actually does have to kiss Tokaku, and stands up quickly. She crosses the stretch between them at speed, and leans down close to Tokaku, giving her a few choice words, before doing what was to be done.
"Tokaku-san, just please dont try to hate me. I’m not saying you have to like me, in any sense of the word. But please, you know I don’t want to be your enemy anymore.” She knows it’s a lot to ask, but there would be no chance to get her point across at any other time.
A tiny nervous smile flutters across Nio’s lips, just before she boldly pushes them against Tokaku’s. There’s an alarm bell going off somewhere in her head, but somewhere more dominant told her to push the boundary. The arbitrator doesn’t dare touch the other assassin for fear of pushing a little too far. She stays how she was when she initiated their kiss, almost rooted to the spot, just lingering for what could be a little too long.

At this point, it took the azure-locked girl a brief moment to process what was said. Nio barely knew her, but perhaps she did know much more about her than she thought. Azuma at this point had no idea what to say. The fact that someone had feelings for her was extremely flattering, but what she suppose to do? She didn’t feel the same way. Far from it. Neutrality at its best. Perhaps annoyance and slight dislike too, but Azuma normally was on a neutral stance.
"…I see." Azuma answered finally after the thick silence.
Another quick pause to form some sort of response. “…I’m flattered if you do have something for me, but you know what I feel and I can’t say I can do anything about it.”
As cold the truth was, the azure-locked girl had a point. No use sugar-coating when everything is better being told with brutal honesty. Emotion Azuma lacked majorly of the time, but when she felt something, it was usually of irritation or apathy. If it bugged her tremendously at the wrong spot, it would be sorrow, but that is rare all in itself.
"You don’t need to do anything about it.” Nio keeps her replies sincere, feeling no need to hide emotion in this private conversation about her emotions. “It’s just me being a selfish, careless fool.”
The arbitrator is fully aware of how different the two of them are. Maybe that’s why she’s attracted to this particular assassin. Nio comes complete with a full range of emotion, which she can mask under, perhaps, a completely different one, but that’s what Tokaku lacks. It almost makes Nio glad, however, that she is so blunt and emotionless. It makes concentrating on what to say next her full purpose, rather than doing that, and trying to suss how Tokaku really feels.
After sitting, and apparently staring at Tokaku for a while, Nio remembers why she knocked on the door in the first place. “Ah, but, you don’t want to listen to my stupid feelings. I came here for a kiss, didn’t I?” The blonde swallows the nervous lump in her throat, awaiting Tokaku’s answer with anything less than anticipation.
asked: "Nio!~~" Haruki purred, picking the tiny blonde up and grinning as she smothered her with kisses. "If you have no objections, I am stealing you away~"
The arbitrator is surprised by being lifted off her feet, but relaxes once she knows it’s just Haruki. She leans her head onto the other assassin’s shoulder, and looks at her, smiling once she’s relatively comfortable. “If it’s just you, of course I don’t have any objection, Haruki-chan.”
"Well, someone’s gotta look out for you." Haruki grinned, slowly putting the blonde down though she would much rather have attempted to carry her further. "C’mon then, grab what y’ gonna eat and we’ll grab a table~" she chirped, picking a tray up to collect the assortment of food she wanted, herself.
When Haruki isn’t looking at Nio, she grins to herself, and picks up her own tray. She selects a relitively normal breakfast, aside from the melon buns she sneaks onto the tray, which could either be for now, or later. Once she’s done, Nio returns to Haruki’s side. “Since you’re taking such good care of me today, Haruki-chan, you should pick the best seat for us to sit at.” She says, nudging the redhead in the side playfully with her elbow.

It was meant to be fluffy, how could this have possibly happened??
Azuma paused at the choice of words from the other. Why sorry? Especially an apology that sounded very hesitant and filled with high amounts of emotion. It wasn’t like Nio to stagger like this. In fact, even through some sort of emotional turmoil, the arbitrator was one who held smiles and a positive attitude even if it was very suiting to the situation. This fired some more flags in the azure assassin’s mind.
How pathetic of this situation. Nio was fearsome despite her small size and happy personality. “What is your motive? There has got to be more than just gathering kisses and opening everyone up.”
No use beating around the bush Nio. Especially when Azuma had no patience today for fooling around and lies. She wasn’t a detective but the azure-locked girl will wait for what will be said before she decided if it was a lie or the truth.
When the question is asked, Nio feels her heartrate increase. It was inevetable, of course. She gave the chance for Tokaku to ask the question, as the arbitrator herself wasn’t going to bring it up. Such a reaction hadn’t been shown when around all the other’s, but… No, it’s almost clear to Nio now why Tokaku makes her nervous. She’s an Azuma. All things considered, the two should be literally at each other’s throats. Yet one of the two sits close to shaking from nerves and anxiety about telling someone who should be her enemy about feelings she can’t control.
The tiny blonde assassin takes a breath in, and tilts her head to the side a fraction. Her flame-red eyes meeting the opposite ice-blue ones, which cause a slight shiver to run down her spine. “I foolishly let feelings get the better of me,” She begins, deciding just to be brutally honest, “Azuma-san, by watching the others, and getting to know them from a distance, I’ve stupidly started to develop feelings for them.”
Phrasing the sentence like this has made Nio start to believe she truly is a fool for letting herself fall into this situation. Being the arbitrator, she’s supposed to let the assassins go, and simply not care, so how has someone who’s still managed to stay relatively distant from the others managed to let her feelings get to her the most?
